A little about myself
Todd Ratliff, joined the Albia Community School District in 1997. Along with his current teaching assignment he has spent 3 years in secondary mathematics, 5 years in secondary modular technology, and multiple years in the high school at-risk program.
He spent 20 years as a running coach in Albia. He has coached over a dozen individual state qualifiers, multiple district champions and all-state placing runners. His teams recorded 13 conference titles and nine runner-up finishes during his tenure.
As the head track and field coach at ACHS, Ratliff guided his squad to a top-three team finish at the state meet in 2015 and the Blue Demons 4x400 relay team won the state title for the last five years as well as two Drake Relay titles in the same event. He currently coaches both the Albia High cross country team in addition to his Assistant Coaching positions for track , 8th grade basketball, and spent 2 years as assistant cross country at Indian Hills Community College.
Before retiring in May 2015, Ratliff served in the Iowa Army National Guard for more than 22 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant Major. He served multiple tours of duty overseas in the Infantry. Ratliff was awarded the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Order of St. Maurice's Medallion as well as numerous federal and state awards.
He and his wife Kim have three sons, Brock, Christopher and Tyson.
For the second straight summer, Ratliff established a youth running club in Albia, a free program in which club members ran, under the coach's supervision, three mornings a week.
